Bringing life to a totaled car

Bringing life to a totaled car

I had a 11 year old car with close to 148000 miles which started pulling off to a side when driving and braking. Took it to a shop and they said that the rear subframe is corroded and it’s dangerous to drive the car. Welding the frame was not an option as it was rotten and crumbling and replacing the frame would cost more than the value of the car. The car was declared as totaled. I couldn’t give up on the car yet and took it up to replace the frame myself. Took the whole rear of the car down, disassembled the suspension and differential to separate the frame and replaced it with a frame I got from another salvaged car, adding some rust resistant paint. The car is now back in driving condition and I have now driven an additional 7000 miles
