150 mph wrecked bike rebuild
My last race ended in fire at road Atlanta. Along the back straight, me and another racer collided at about 150 mph, causing me and my bike to slide down the track well over a hundred yards. When the bike stopped, it managed to catch fire. I managed to put it out with an extinguisher nearby, then took a ride with the ambulance. 2015 ZX10R $2500 dollars in parts replaced to get it ready for the next race. -Exhaust -Front wheel repair -Front Forks -Rearsets -Clippons -Bodywork and Paint -Frame Repair -Engine Case Covers -Airbox -Secondary Injectors -Random small bits The cost was tough to swallow, especially since I’m living off a firefighter salary. But worse than the cost, was the damage the extinguisher residue was causing to EVERY metal component on the motorcycle.. every single bolt and nut. That’s where the WD40 came in. People don’t realize how corrosive extinguishers are to metal. I scrubbed every single piece, plus nearly every surface the residue was on with WD40. WD40 helped me get back in the race.
