1945 international K6 Tow Truck

Getting a 1945 International K6 tow truck ready for the road and race track after retirement!

Step 1

The original 1945 international 250CI gas motor was no longer a runner sadly. It was pulled and shipped out to Ohio to a fire station to get their international fire truck running! No parts are wasted in this build! While the engine couldn’t be used locally, it was used for some very much needed(and unable to be sourced new) parts.

Step 2

With a new(to the truck) power plant, the truck was one LARGE step closer to hitting the road. A 4 stroke Detroit diesel was installed. No firewall modification was required, keeping the cab as original as possible

Step 3

All the wiring, from the front to the back, was redone. The fenders removed, for an aggressive “hot rod” look. A push bar added to the front. The driveshaft was sent out to a local driveline shop and lengthened. The truck was now able to hit the road.

Step 4

And you can’t forget friendship! Helping is this trucks middle name. From a 90s suburban to a 2010s Jeep wrangler!

Step 5

With almost a year working on the truck, it was finally ready for some real work. The truck is now occasionally driven 45 minutes to a local race track to help towing on busy events. This 1945 international sits along side a 2001 f550 wrecker and either a freightliner M2 or Chevy Kodiak rollback. These trucks get some good work done, and do it quick! And you can’t forget about heavy lifting! This truck has gone from being forgotten to being cherished by many local race track fans.
