1951 Chevrolet Truck Restoration

I restored this truck in my garage over a period of 10 years. I used various WD-40 products throughout the restoration process. These projects are never really finished and today my project continues as I still use WD-40 products on this truck. My dad was a mechanic and I "helped" starting as a 10 year old kid when he repaired cars at home.  He used the original WD-40 in 1970s and I continue to use WD-40 products and have shared the same with my boys. Tradition continues! Products used during the restoration: WD-40 degreaser to clean original 216 ci engine, transmission, and under hood. WD-40 Specialist Penetrant to loosen stuck and rusted bolts on suspension, frame, steering, wheels/brakes, and clutch-head bolts. (see 'before' and 'after' truck photos) WD-40 Specialist Contact Cleaner to clean original voltage regulator contacts, ignition switch, and light switch (see photo of cleaning light switch). WD-40 Original as lubricant when honing a replacement 235 ci engine cylinders.  Also used to restore a non-functional 1910s Ahooga horn.  (see horn collage photo of 'before' and hear video of 'after') WD-40 Carb/Throttle Body Cleaner to clean carburetor and PCV valve and keep restored truck running in great condition. (see Video using cleaner to clean PCV valve).

Step 1

Restoration took 10 years and continues. My kids helped me throughout the process and introduced them to WD-40. WD-40 products used throughout restoration.

Step 2

Restored a non-working Klaxet Ahooga horn and installed on Truck. Sounds great after using WD-40.

Step 3

Light switch began to function erratically. Removed from truck and used WD-40 to clean rheostat and contacts.

Step 4

Overall restoration description and discussion of WD-40 used during restoration. Cleaned PCV valve in video.
