WD-40 has been a part of my life since I was a little kid on the farm. Helping Dad and Grampa with projects and repairs one of the fitst things I remember was holding the flashlight still and running to get a can of WD-40. When I was in high school I restored a 1946 David Bradley walk behind tractor that was in two magazines including a layout in a national magazine. WD-40 was a necessity in getting that project to completion. As a Machinist, WD-40 is used from everything to repairs, oiling in winter to prohibit rust on machines, and for machining parts (esp.)aluminum..... secret from the old timers. WD-40 is AWESOME for machining aluminum😉
The project in my shop now is a 1958 Ford Ranchero. 2nd year of the Ranchero, and one of the rarest years. This poor old girl had been sitting in the Oregon wilderness since 1982. With WD-40, not a SINGLE bolt has been broken or had to be heated to be removed in disassembly. The engine is stuck so we've had to do a tear down of the upper part of the massive 352 to discover #1 piston is froze. So all Mechanics have their "secret" recipe to unstick things.......
We're using WD-40. Soaking right now.....
Fingers crossed we have movement soon.
Our goal is to have her cruising again for local car shows. To give her a new chance to live.
