1986 Toyota pickup
Drove the truck from Montana to Georgia a few years ago on an epic 3 day haul through blizzards and mountain passes. I daily drove till recently. Spun a bearing on rod number 3 which prompted a restoration including engine rebuild, painting the raw metal around the back window from the old camper shell, welding up holes from screws and welding the seat brackets back in place, new carpet with all kilmat sound deading, cleaned and painted part of the engine bay to prevent the battery rusting through the tray, pulled engine harness and re-looked with braided loom and fixed several bad wiring repairs as well as installed new connectors. Rebuilt engine .60 over with a torque cam and new crankshaft. Did all of this in the garage. My dad came down and helped me finish off the top end of the engine and install it in a 10 spree on a Saturday. Fired it up 6 mins after midnight that night. Ton of great memories were made with the truck before even doing this and now I’ve made a tone more during this process. I cannot wait to make even more. Being an older vehicle and from the north I needed not only WD40 to help break troublesome fasteners loose, but also the WD lithium grease to help lube all the window regulators, door locks and actuators and door hinges and hood latch.
