1996 Ford Mustang V6
I'm the pure definition of saving of a car that most people would throw away, my girlfriend and I resurrected a 1996 Ford Mustang with the V6, something that I think most people wouldn't find any value in. Originally it was non running because of a leak from the upper radiator hose and electrical gremlins. We intended to use the car as a fun rallycross toy. After putting in a new battery, hoses and fixing the turn signals, we took it on its maiden voyage. This is when we found out the engine had low oil pressure when warm. We were determined to find out how long it would last. Surprisingly it held up 6 events where redline was maintained for the majority of the time. Slowly I realized I enjoyed driving this car around, dubbing it the Ford "Dustang" with how dirty it was. The car was heavily knocking towards the end of it's first season, but that did not kill the dream. A engine was purchased off Marketplace for $200 and the effort to keep it going was alive. A full engine replacement done DIY style in the garage. You better believe WD-40 was used to help clean and loosen fasteners on this 20+ year old car. Engine? Replaced. Suspension? Completely redone. Brakes? Front and rear. Axle seals? Might as well. So much effort to keep the originally $600 dollar car running snowballed into more funds being put into it. It was a lot of fun to do my first clutch job in, first engine replacement, etc. but I wanted something more powerful/fun to slide in the dirt so it was sold to someone else with the intention of them drifting it.
