2005 Dodge ram 3500 restoration
Last February I bought a 2005 dodge 3500 rolling chassis rust free from down south and restored it with the drivetrain from my 2007. I also had the truck entirely repainted and I repainted the frame myself.
Step 1
Found the truck locally on Facebook marketplace bought it and took it home in the same night.
Step 2
I removed all of the wiring, remaining interior and took the body off of the frame
Step 3
I sandblasted the entire frame myself for many hours after work
Step 4
I repainted the frame with the help of my dad
Step 5
At this point I had put the cab and bed back onto the freshly painted frame. I also got new oem fenders and a new roof panel that was very hard to find. This would also be one of the last times I get to drive the gray 2007 truck.
Step 6
At this point I was very sad to be ripping it apart I have had the truck since I was 18 and it’s been on a lot of adventures with me. But the New England winters really have taken a toll on the body.
Step 7
At this point I had to have my friend help me tow it home. I was so excited and happy with how the color looked. The color I chose is from a 2020 Mazda.
Step 8
I got right to work after getting it back from paint and spent a lot of late nights in the garage.
Step 9
Now there were a few steps missed but I didn’t take as many pictures or videos as I should have. Thats probably my only regret but I was so focused on getting it going before putting it away for the winter. I had a lot of fun building this truck and I learned a lot and did most of the work alone with some help here and there from friends and my dad. It went from being a shell to a running and driving restored truck in about 8 months.
