2016 FZ09 roadworthy repair.
Hello Mr./Mrs. WD40, lifelong supporter here with my submission for your visual and reading pleasure. In March of 2024, I had an accident with my beloved 2016 FZ09 where I fractured my left scaphoid (bone in my left wrist). Before the accident I was steadily making small repairs and aesthetic improvements to this high mileage machine (purchased in 2021@57k mile, current 63760). Most notably I identified a crack in the engine case above the oil pan and repaired with JB weld holding for 1.5 years so far!! The bike was neglected and obvious signs are present. The previous owner failed to perform basic chain maintenance and subsequently wrapped the corroded chain around the swing arm. Yours truly has yet to find an affordable replacement but I have again made aesthetic improvements. I have been gathering parts while I’ve been healing. In just a few days this 3rd cast will be off and hopefully I move onto a brace. This is when I will have improved dexterity to adequately get after the these needed repairs I will keep on sourcing a swing arm and begin gathering seat repair items as it is tearing. Walmart has some fake alligator leather I’ve passed by a few times now. Lastly (should be first) tires are getting out of shape. WD40 has been a staple in my repair endeavors throughout out my life. From skateboards, BMX, and US GOV equipment. Always within reach always there to help me succeed. It is my goal to get this machine in motion to return it to its former glory if not better. Thank you for your time and consideration! R/s Russell Drennon II r.drennon@gmail.com
