Backyard Chicken Coop & Predator-Proof Run Build

I built a custom chicken coop and enclosed run to create a safe, secure home for my flock while protecting them from predators. The project involved setting posts, framing the enclosure, building a full-size access gate, installing hardware cloth fencing, and assembling the coop structure.

During assembly, I installed several hinges, latches, and moving gate components that needed smooth operation and protection from the outdoor elements. I used WD-40 Multi-Use Product on the gate hinges and hardware to help lubricate moving parts, prevent squeaks, and provide protection against moisture and corrosion.

The project took several days to complete and required measuring, framing, fastening fencing, hanging the gate, and fine-tuning the hardware to ensure everything operated properly. The finished coop provides a secure and functional space for the chickens while creating a durable structure designed to withstand years of outdoor use.

By building the enclosure myself and maintaining the hardware with WD-40, I was able to create a long-lasting solution rather than purchasing a more expensive pre-built setup.
