Clutch and Transmission Replacement 2006 Cobalt

About 3 months ago I was driving to work in my car for the night shift. When I got there, I realized my shifter would not move into reverse without grinding. Nor would it move into 2nd or 3rd gear. On my breaks, I figured out the snychronizers needed replacement. Since my vehicle is almost 20 years old, they are hard to come by to say the least since they aren’t produced anymore. So, I was able to find a replacement F40 from a 2012 Buick Regal GS with the 6-speed. I replaced my old F35 5-speed with. I figured the extra gear would help with fuel mileage, and would last longer being 6 years newer. Since I have a supercharged SS model, it is difficult to find a 4.05 drive ratio LSD transmission. Or at least one that’s not broken, so I figured swapping it whole was the best course of action. There was some custom fabrication for transmission mounts and had to order custom parts online for it, but when they finally came, I started pulling the engine out so I could weld my new parts to the engine bay with some space. The clutch pilot bearing also needed a press fit, as did the transmission itself before the bolts were tightened. This picture is from during that time. It took in all about 4 days of working on it, in the Ohio summer heat. Since I live in the rust belt (yes we call it that), I had used probably 3 whole cans of WD40 and WD40 Professional. They worked great, especially the latter, but before then I had never tried the Professional. Since that time, I have not bought any other product to break bolts loose or lubricate parts. Since then, I have had no problems with any of it, and thanks to WD40, I have no noises that aren’t supposed to be there.
