Fix any noisy casters
Working in a prison, you don't want to attract any attention. In the warehouse, our carts get a lot of use. After time and use, they get dry and very noisy. This project shows how to silence any casters that are connected to a cart, grill, suitcase or anything else you can attach to them using only WD-40 White Lithium Grease.
Step 1: Prep for application
Roll your unit into an open space and if possible, place cardboard or paper grocery bags under each wheel.
Step 2: Apply to outside face of each caster
Working one corner at a time, spray a generous amount of WD-40 White Lithium Grease to the outside faces, nuts and bearings of your particular unit.
Step 3: Apply to insude of each caster
Using the same technique as the last step, aim for the inside of the caster.
Step 4: Spray and wipe off excess
Switching to a can of compressed air, blow off any dripping excess and wipe it away with a shop rag or small towel.
Step 5: Don't rush the process.
It's very important to let the WD-40 soak in and have to do it's work. Move on to another cart or project for the next 10 minutes.
Step 6: Get rolling
You're all done! The casters should either be much more quiet or dead silent. Repeat this process annually if possible.
