Need to vent
This HVAC register is rusted shut, making it difficult to operate. Maybe it's time to replace it? Before we do that, let's see what some WD-40 can do to get it back to life.
Step 1
Tools you'll need: - Flathead screwdriver - Paper towels - Can of WD-40
Step 2
Remove the register by unscrewing the register hardware. Lay the register on a protected service.
Step 3
Prep your WD-40 can by shaking it and flipping the Smart Straw up to the "stream" position.
Step 4
Carefully apply WD-40 to the stuck lever, ensuring all friction points are generously covered, and allow the WD-40 to soak for a few minutes. While you wait, spray and wipe down the rest of the register body to clean it up and apply a protective layer.
Step 5
Now, reinstall the register using your flathead screwdriver to secure the removed hardware.
Step 6
The register has new life, all thanks to the help of WD-40.
