The Fool’s Errand - Turning a Motorcycle into Art

This project began with a challenge from my wife. “I want to see what you can do with a Mad Max theme on a motorcycle. I took her up on the challenge, found a non-running 1981 Yamaha XS850 triple, a bike I was unfamiliar with and picked up for $550. My buddy and I hauled the bike home and wheeled it into my shop where the transformation would be done. The bike had been stored outdoors and required a lot of WD40 to disassemble. My wife enjoyed watching me come to terms with building a custom bike that wasn’t perfect. The end result was the bike you see here, The Fool’s Errand. Transformed from a motorcycle into a work of art; this bike tells a story and WD40 definitely looks like it should be part of that story.
